36V, Standalone Switching Charger

The MP2659 is a standalone 36V 3A buck switching charger with integrated MOSFETs for 3-6 Cell battery packs. The device supports Li-ion, Li-polymer, and LiFePO4 battery chemistries. It provides up to 3A charge current without any external FETs or current sense resistors to a 3-6 series cell battery pack with programmable 3.6V/4.0V/4.1V/4.15V/4.2V/4.35V/4.4V regulation voltage per cell and 0.5% accuracy. The IC supports an operating input voltage range from 3.9V to 36V (40V max hold-off) with programmable input voltage and current loops to safely operate from a wide variety of power sources. The device has robust protection features including battery over-voltage, battery NTC temperature monitoring, thermal shutdown, and programmable charging safety timer. The MP2659 is available in a small 3mm x 3mm QFN-19 package, and is designed for applications such as robot and portable vacuum cleaners, wireless speakers, power tools, and other industrial medical equipment.
