When considering the smart home application area, it can be seen that voice functions add much value to the overall experience. Within its existing I/O voice application series of MCUs, which include the HT68RV032, HT68RV033 and HT68RV034, Holtek now announces the release of a larger memory capacity addition to this range with the new HT68RV035. One special feature within this device is its internal 16Mbit Voice Flash Memory which can be repeatedly updated with up to 680 seconds of voice storage. This makes the device suitable for a wide range of voice application products such as smart home appliances, consumer electronic products, etc.
This new MCU includes a high current output Delta Sigma PWM function which can directly drive a speaker with high volume and high quality sounds. In addition, the device includes a fully integrated LVR circuit which requires no external reset circuitry for its implementation. To assist designers with their product development, it is is fully supported by Holtek’s Voice Workshop which offers voice editing with up to 1024 voices and 96 sentences as well as providing ADPCM4/5, µ-Law and PCM12 voice compression modes. The device also provides single-wire, two-wire, SPI and I²C communication interfaces for connection with a master MCU as well as having a key control mode.
