The success of COM Express in the embedded market is a result of the broad respect given to the PICMG consortium. PICMG has been responsible for many other widely accepted standard form factors in the embedded industry. Over the years, ADLINK has played a leading role in the PICMG COM.0 (COM Express) subcommittee.
In the latest COM Express Rev. 3.1, several advanced interfaces suitable for next-gen AIoT applications, such as PCIe Gen4 support, has been added to Type 6, Type 7, and Type 10. Additionally, it adds USB4 support for Type 6, and a second PCIe clock and updating 10G Ethernet to support CEI side-band-signaling for Type 7. Other enhancements include adding options for general purpose SPI, MIPI-CSI connectors, and SoundWire, as well as adding IPMB for Type 7.
COM Express Carrier Boards and Starter Kits are available for each COM e standard:
COM Express Type 6
The Type 6 Starter Kit Plus consists of a COM Express Type 6 module with ATX size Type 6 reference carrier board that offers one PCI Express x16 slot with proprietary pinout for DDI adapter card that convert DDI signal to DP or HDMI signal, one PCI Express graphics x16 slot, one PCI Express x4 slot, three PCI Express x1 slots, Serial ATA, VGA, LVDS, USB3.0/2.0, Gigabit LAN and Super I/O. All necessary cables are included.
COM Express Type 2
The Starter Kit consists of a COM Express Type 2 core module with ATX size reference carrier board that offers one PCI Express graphics slot x16 , four PCI Express x1 slot, two PCI slots, Serial ATA, SDVO, VGA, LVDS, TV-out, USB 2,0, Gigabit LAN, and Super I/O. All necessary cables are included.
COM Express Type 7
ADLINK’s Express-ID7 COM Express Type 7 Basic Size module is based on the Intel® Xeon® D-1700 processor and features integrated high-speed Ethernet for up to 4x 10G combined with 16 PCIe Gen4 lanes for instantaneous responsiveness and performance. Equipped with Intel® TCC, Deep Learning Boost (VNNI), AVX-512 technologies for optimal, accelerated AI performance, and support for Time Sensitive Networking (TSN), it provides precise control of hard-real-time workloads across all networked devices.
COM Express Type 10
The COM Express Type 10 nanoX Starter Kit Plus consists of a COM Express Type 10 core module reference carrier board that provides two PCIe Mini Card slots, 2 RJ-45 LAN ports, 2x USB 3.0, 2x USB 2.0, 1x USB client, 2x DB-9 COM, 1x SD card socket, and Mic/Linein/ Line-out. ADLINK also provides additional development tools including a verified 10.1" LVDS panel (optional), power supply, thermal solution and cabling accessories.
