The RX8901CE and RX4901CE, two new RTC (real-time clock) modules, are now available in mass production by Seiko Epson Corporation. These are Epson’s smallest RTC modules to date, measuring just 3.2 × 2.5 × 1.0 mm, and are designed for industrial and IoT applications requiring precise timekeeping, low power consumption, and compact form factors. The RX8901CE supports an I2C-Bus interface, while the RX4901CE offers an SPI-Bus interface, providing flexibility for a wide range of system designs.
With typical current consumption of only 0.24 µA—30% lower than previous models—these modules are ideal for battery-powered devices such as smart meters, security systems, and factory automation equipment. They offer expanded time stamp memory (up to 32 records) and are factory-calibrated for high accuracy, eliminating the need for post-installation adjustment. Their stability across wide temperature ranges makes them especially suited for outdoor and automotive environments. Epson continues to support sustainable innovation through its energy-efficient and precision technologies.
