iSIM is the groundbreaking form factor in the SIM revolution. iSIM (Integrated SIM) is the iUICC (integrated universal integrated circuit card) enabled SIM, built within the processor using the system-on-chip (SoC) design.
It is enclosed in a Tamper Resistant Element (TRE) inside this dedicated space in the main processor and acts as a data bank for critical credentials. It is fully compatible with all cellular technologies from 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G.
Integrated SIM cards elevate the SIM structure by integrating a SoC design. It amps up the connectivity game- guided by eSIMs eliminating the need for separate chips for SIMs. It also reduces the module footprint and imparts a sleek and compact design to IoT devices when compared to those incorporating physical SIMs.
An ICCID, or Integrated Circuit Card Identification, is a unique identifier assigned to each SIM card used in mobile devices. This globally unique number, typically 19 to 20 digits long, serves as a 'fingerprint' for the SIM card, allowing it to be distinguished from all others.
The ICCID number is stored both digitally and physically on the SIM card. Physically, it's often printed on the back of the SIM card, while digitally, it's embedded in the card's memory. This number is crucial for various operations, such as activating the SIM card, and is often required when communicating with network providers.
The ICCID plays a significant role in the world of telecommunication, particularly in identifying SIM cards. Each SIM card worldwide, whether it's in your smartphone or embedded in an IoT device, has a unique ICCID. This ensures that each device can be individually identified and correctly connected to the network. In the context of IoT, the ICCID number is even more critical. As the number of connected devices continues to grow, the ability to identify each device's SIM card becomes increasingly important for managing connectivity, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining secure network communications.
