MCU Families with Extensive Connectivity Interface Options

Microchip launched two new SAM MCU families, SAM D5x and SAM E5x. These new 32-bit MCU families offer extensive connectivity interfaces, powerful performance and robust hardware-based security for a wide variety of applications. These new MCUs have multiple interfaces that provide design flexibility for even the most demanding connectivity needs.

SAM D5X

  • ARM Cortex-M4F core running at 120 MHz with Single Precision Floating Point Unit (FPU).
  • Quad Serial Peripheral Interface (QSPI) with Execute in Place (XIP) support
  • Supports 5 Low power modes with class leading 65µA/MHz Active Power Performance
  • Up to 2 Secure Digital Host Controller (SDHC) for eMMC/SDIO/SD
  • Up to 8 Serial communication (SERCOM) ports configurable as UART/USART, ISO 7816, SPI or I2C

 

SAM E5X

  • ARM Cortex-M4F core running at 120 MHz with Single Precision Floating Point Unit (FPU).
  • Internal memory architecture with user configurable Tightly Coupled Memory, System memory, Memory Protection Unit and 4KB Combined I-cache and D-cache
  • Quad Serial Peripheral Interface(QSPI) with Execute in Place (XIP) Support
  • Up to 2 Secure Digital Host Controller (SDHC)
  • 10/100 Ethernet MAC with IEEE1588 (E53/E54)
